Distance: 8 miles
Time: 56:59
Today for the first time it finally felt like winter. Or at least early fall/late spring in New England. Had to go with a long sleeve shirt on my run, and the first mile or so was pretty chilly. Felt solid pretty much all the way through. Stayed on the asphalt and hit quite a few hills, but found a cool neighborhood to run through about 3 miles away. The road runs over some rolling hills and overlooks a good chunk of the city. One of the major pluses of so many hills is that there are some really sweet viewpoints that overlook the city and ocean.
The air was a lot clearer and cleaner today than it's been recently. Apparently in the winter farmers just burn off the remnants of their crops to make way for future planting, resulting in ash carried miles away through the air. The other night on a particularly hazy evening I was checking weather.com for the forecast. The current weather? "Durban. 20 degrees C. Smoke." In case that didn't register, there was a nice little picture of plumes of smoke blocking out the sun. Hectic.
